Vintage Factory Engine Short Block Assembly — Performance Inventory Vault
Up for sale is a genuine, 1983 Harley-Davidson Factory OEM Ironhead Sportster 1000cc Engine Crankcase Bottom End Assembly. Unlike bare empty blocks, this unit includes the factory crankshaft flywheel assembly, connecting rods, and internal main bearings. It features a clear, unmolested factory VIN stamping pad matching a 1983 XLH 1000 Electric Start Sportster.
DISCLOSURE & CONDITION NOTE: Please look closely at the pictures. This vintage aluminum crankcase features a prior professional weld repair job on the casing wall. The weld is solid, holds structural form, and is a very common fix on vintage Ironhead builds where loose chains or primary failures occurred. The case has been cleaned, checked, and is ready for mockup or final finish dressing by a builder.

  • Condition Details: Used vintage builder stock. Cylinder deck surfaces are true, flat, and smooth. Rod beams are straight with normal, smooth vintage rotation over the crankpin. All cylinder stud threads, engine mount tabs, and main oil line ports carry clean, usable thread paths.
