Up for sale is a 1971–1972 Harley-Davidson FX Super Glide inner primary cover — this version is painted red and offered as a mechanic’s special. It’s a kick-start-only primary from the early boattail-era FX models.


The cover has a missing metal section, which has been filled and reinforced with JB Weld (see detailed photos). While not perfect, it’s structurally stable and could be used as a functional or repairable core for restoration or custom applications.

  • 1971–1972 Harley-Davidson FX Super Glide (boattail)

  • Kick-start only (not for electric start)

  • OEM cast aluminum primary cover

  • Painted red — could be stripped or refinished

  • Repaired with JB Weld where a section of metal was missing

  • Weld and filler areas visible — see photos closely

  • Ideal for mock-ups, project bikes, or custom builds
